hi,
I would argue against the proposed deletion of the photo of the Traveller Pride mural located at the entrance of the Halting Site on Margaret's Road, Dublin, Ireland. I ask that you consider the following.
This addition to Wikimedia Commons was included in Wiki Loves Folklore 2021

The basic aim of which is to collect photos of human cultural diversity to illustrate articles in various Wikimedia Foundation projects.
The cultural group being celebrated in the mural is under-represented in society at large. For members and allies to see the mural photographed and reproduced on the internet (and no mere blog or forum but rather on Wikipedia no less) has immeasurably positive effects.
From my perspective the Reason listed for the nomination: i.e. "Similar to UK, no freedom of panorama for "graphic works" in Ireland", is not being applied universally. There are, in fact, many Wikimedia Commons categories for street art, with circa 200 photos of murals in Belfast. The inclusion of such images add to the spirit of the free online encyclopaedia; universal application of the reason for deletion would see Wikimedia be much poorer as a result. If I have failed to properly Categorise the photo, then feel free to point me in the direction of where I can be educated so as to learn from my mistake.
The mural in question has since been destroyed in an act of anti-social behaviour. Outside of Flickr, this photo on Wiki Commons is all that remains of a moment that captures cooperation among different families, generations and genders. A feat of mutualism that resulted in a outpouring of creativity. The mural both celebrates cultural pride generally and also facilitated the cultivation of pride for this specific collaboration between people for whom art lies outside of their everyday lives. @Cograng sorry but, Irish murals still under artists' copyrights are not allowed on Wikimedia Commons. Images must be commercially resuable (thru commercial Creative Commons licenses) without restraint from artists of the depicted artworks. Irish copyright law does not include flat arts like murals as among works that can be freely depicted in photographs (those can only be depicted for non-commercial or private purposes). Only buildings, sculptural monuments, and artworks by craftsmen or artisans like stained-glass windows and mosaics are permitted to be photographed for free or commercial purposes. It is the mistake of the Irish organizers of Wiki Loves Folklore if they included murals in their list of works that can be photographed.
There is one more option, though. You, as the photographer/uploader, should contact the artists of the mural you depicted in your photo, and ask for their clearance on the commercial Creative Commons license you applied to your photo. They should send an email agreeing to that license to Wikimedia via email address indicated at COM:VRTS.
Wikimedia Commons does not accept non-commercial licenses, which do not conform to the Principle of Free Cultural Works that Commons:Licensing policy upholds. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 09:20, 23 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Files found with Special:Search/insource:"Mauricio Nievas"[edit]

The images say the photographer Mauricio Nievas released this in the public domain, but the template was added by the uploaded and there is no source of such claim. Also these images feature copyrighted artworks and there is no indication that they have a free license (notice there is no FOP in Argentina). We need a COM:VRT from the photographer and a source indication the artworks have a free license (e.g. permission from artists).

I question the uploader's authorship. They uploaded it saying it was piramids in Mexico state, then adding Metadata Teotihuacan. It is recognizable as a different famous ruin in Mexico, El Tajin, in Veracruz state. (I have changed the description and categories accordingly.) I suppose it's possible the uploader was confused and thought they were at a different famous ruin in a different part of Mexico, but to this extent seems unlikely. No EXIF. @Le Projecteur: Si ces images sont les vôtres, pour chacune, il faut fournir les sources. Par exemple, pour File:IcoIA2.png, quelle est l'image utilisée ? Si c'est la vôtre, il faut l'importer sur Commons, ou confirmer la licence par email (via COM:VRT). En l'absence de preuve, si les informations sont manquantes, elles seront supprimées. Thanks for your interest. I see your point, but i am wondering how to accomodate a fragment on Wikisource. It seems out of scope there? This indeed plain text chapter here at Commons is simply to help researchers, students and other interested people studying Dutch (legal) history getting to grips with this difficult 17th century learned study in Latin, French and Dutch all mixed up...(About the right to have an army for a town Hagesteyn in the mediaeval bishopric of Utrecht.) It seems to not fit well on Wikisource as it is not a full-text book .dvi with transcription - as is standard on wikisource - or similar. What do you think?  Wait – It looks like the uploader has uploaded what is basically personal images received from the person appearing in the photos, ref de:Wikipedia:Qualitätssicherung/7._Oktober_2023#Albert_C._Humphrey. So how would that make them any less copyvio? The uploader has in fact stated that they have received them from the image subject, and that he owns the Urheberrecht - which is simply not possible at least for the ones where German Urheberrecht law applies.

  •  Keep To be eligible for a copyright in the United States you had to register for a copyright and renew that copyright up to 1964. from 1977 to 1989 you had 5 years to register for a copyright. After 1989 all images were copyrighted without the need to register. I have searched through both databases and there are no registrations or renewals for any variations of this person's name. Several look post 1989, but if the uploader is making a claim that a family member or they took the images, they can release under cc or cc-heirs.   • Copies had to be published/distributed though to lose copyright. Having some prints from friends may not count. The early family photographs, he could well be able to license them as an heir. The US Army one is PD-USGov, so that should be OK (and a copy was clearly distributed to him if not PD-USGov). A lot of the others are muddier. J'ai daté en mettant hier cette photo sur Commons à cette date car le portable que j'utilise aujourd'hui (un Xiomi) n'a pas la fonction de datation qu'avait mon ancien portable (un Samsung). Non, cela me marque : Le fichier téléversé est une copie exacte de la version actuelle de File:Ciel rouge avant la tempête Philippe.jpg. Je ne sais absolument pas comment faire. Moi, j ai juste voulu mettre ce cliché montrant un phénomène particulier alors que j ai lu qq part que cela se produisait souvent avant un événement de ce type. J ai téléchargé une deuxième photo que la copine de mon fils a pris au même moment et là les métadonnées apparaissent bien sauf que cela date du 8 octobre alors que la photo est du 2. Après est-ce que cela ne se date pas du moment où les photos sont envoyées par Whatssapp ? Bref, je ne maîtrise pas ce sujet là.
Concernant les photos de la tempête, il y a peu d éléments à photographier. Les réparations ont été faîtes assez rapidement et le coin où j habite a été moins touché que le coin de Goyave par exemple. J ai juste remarqué des fils électriques qui pendent sur la chaussée à Deshaies derrière le collège. Voulez-vous que je les photographie quand même ? Cordialement.
