The monument was completed in 1971 by Leo Mol (1915–2009) and Orio Dal Porto (1938–2016). There is no freedom of panorama in Argentina for non-architectural works. The copyright term of the country is 70 years, and the image can be undeleted in 2087.

- Keep at least File:Winnipeg Shevchenko for Buenos Aires.jpg because it is in Winnipeg, Canada. It was created earlier than the one in Argentina (it is the author's copy of the Argentinian monument). There is definitely no reason to delete the Canadian one, and maybe the Argentinian one is also legal depending on the definition of source country (it might be Canada at least for the main statue part, probably still Argentina for the relief). I don't know Argentinian and Canadian copyrights law well enough, can someone with more knowledge of it look at it? Thanks — NickK (talk) 14:41, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

- Keep This isn't a violation.
- The photos isn't just of the mural, it contains other elements of the building and surrounding area
- The Architectural Works Copyright Protection Act of 1990 appears to cover murals on the sides of buildings as part of FoP. (There have been several cases but non have gone to trial so no precident, see [1] )
- This is a permanent, not a temporary mural (yes, that somehow matters)
- This is on the side of a building not on a non-building structure such as a fence or freestanding wall. (yes, this also matters)
- This is not an accurate reproduction. If it was not taken at an angle and if it was cropped to exclude the non-mural portions then it is possible it wouldn't fall under FOP

Likely derivative of a copyrighted script (see here). — Racconish 💬 07:06, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- It's an interesting argument. There were several cases where courts ruled that as much of an unpublished screenplay became published when the movie was published. For screenplays which were not registered, the statutory copyright started at publication, so any copyright was then tied to the movie, and a lack of notice would also inject any portion of screenplay existing in the movie, into the public domain. Several such cases are mentioned here. However, some of those plainly point to the fact that no copyright was previously registered in the screenplays -- if they were, the statutory copyright started from the date of registration, not publication. That was May 18, 1966 for this movie. The publication date of a movie is when copies were sent to distributors, which was generally before the release date when moviegoers can see the movie. The release date was November 1966. It does seem likely that the screenplay was registered before that (indeed, probably before it was filmed). There have been several cases where the pre-existing copyright on a previously-published book had control over derivative movies, even though the movie itself had expired. Manos: The Hands of Fate#Copyright_dispute mentions the copyright uncertainty. That says that there is no precedent for this case, but that may only because of the publication status -- the screenplay was unpublished when the movie was published, which may slightly distinguish it from rulings about previously-published books. It was the same copyright owner who published the movie without a copyright notice, which included first publication of any relevant part of the screenplay.
- There well may be validity to the argument, given the earlier registration -- any rulings based on the common-law copyright expiring upon publication are probably inapplicable. Of course, a lawsuit would actually have to produce the screenplay (has a copy been found?), and show that the movie was a derivative work -- if the director changed huge parts of the movie during filming such that it no longer contained much of the screenplay, it's possible that the movie was an independent work. Any screenshots from the movie are fine, of course. They would not be derivative of the screenplay. There would likely be many mitigating factors in an actual lawsuit, but if the screenplay has substantial similarities to the plot and/or dialogue of the eventual movie, there could well be some rights in play until 2062. Hi @Yann, I appreciate your message and concern for authentic files on Wikimedia, but quite literally all of these photos have been taken by me. I don't understand how to prove it to you and I don't appreciate the threat that I will be blocked. I have visited La Pobla de Farnala almost every year since I was born. Same with Bogotá, where I took the photo of the Parque Portugal in January. TWICE is my favorite girl group and I've been to both of their latest tours, the photo being the one in March last year. The WVBR photo inside the studios above the stairs was taken by me, and I actually commissioned the custom vinyl pictured to be made in Colombia. I literally took the screenshot of the Zoom photo with John Legend and was the one who recorded the whole video as well. I appreciate you to find actual copyright violations rather than act on absolutely unfounded suspicion. "None of these is probably own works" is not proof of any kind and is merely your personal speculation. Dalvago (talk) 10:34, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

educational value? Kelly The Angel (talk) 09:55, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- This raises the question, what is the educational value of any historical or present nation state inspired queer flags? would the following flags not come under the same scrutiny?
Betsy Ross flag
Kurdish flag
(U)SSR flag
- Zt-freak (talk) 12:38, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- Some of those are in use, so their value is proven. The DDR ceased to exist before the pride movement even really started, so I don't see where this could be used. PaterMcFly (talk) 15:43, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- The USSR one is popular among Authoritarian/Totalitarian socialists who identify as LGBT. The Betsy Ross flag variation is currently being sold at various internet outlets. The Kurdish one is mostly likely supposed to represent the solidarity between the Kurdish movement and the LGBT community, or Kurdish queer people. Kelly The Angel (talk) 16:24, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- There are communists who fly some variation of a queer DDR flag. DDR is seen by these people as a historically progressive country in terms of queer rights. Zt-freak (talk) 19:33, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- Could you please provide any evidence of the use of this flag? At least one photo/video of the physical version of the flag is enough to withdraw the nomination. Kelly The Angel (talk) 03:40, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

I understand that the user has taken photos from krd.ru - a government site that declares to publish its materials under a free license. But these photos were obviously taken by other people, not this government. It is highly probably that they are not PD yet as we don't have proper information about their publication.
So, I suggest we delete them

- Firstly, some files were indeed accurately created by krd.ru (by the Press Service of the Administration of Krasnodar). Not all the files of heroes of the Soviet Union were uploaded to this site. Here you can see the files of persons related to the Krasnodar Krai.
- File:Почетный гражданин г. Краснодара Виктор Горбатко.jpg. On his jacket there is a ribbon "to the honorary citizen of the city of Krasnodar". It's easy to assume that this was created by the Press Service of the Administration of Krasnodar. Viktor Gorbatko is the first Kuban (it's region in Russia) cosmonaut.
- File:Козлов Владимир Васильевич.jpg. Here, the freshness of the photo (the person died in 2014) and the blue background stand out. Usually, for "official photos", this is what Russian government websites do, putting a blue or white background behind them. (for example: File:Гончарова Раиса Ильинична.jpg from the same krd.ru). This also applies to File:Игнатенко Иван Игнатьевич.jpg, he was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Krasnodar" in 2009.
- Secondly, I didn't assign the true authorship to krd.ru. I specifically pointed out that the author (photographer) of each of the files is unknown. Of course, some materials could have been provided or made by other special services. It's also possible that the press service of the site could agree with other file holders. I am sure that they have some kind of specific agreement, it's still an official government website, and not some amateur blog. In any case, the true author is unknown. Anyway, what is the point of arguing who is the true author, if this true anonymous author has long been dead?
- Thirdly, some files taken from krd.ru, they are not available on the Internet at all, except for this site (or there are, but with less quality). For example, this applies to File:Лыхин Сергей Егорович.jpg, File:Гореглядов Владимир Степанович.jpg, File:Кабанов Владимир Егорович.jpg.
- Fourthly, some files were not uploaded by me, so it is better and more correct to call the nomination "Historical files from krd.ru".
- Firstly, some files were indeed accurately created by krd.ru (by the Press Service of the Administration of Krasnodar). Not all the files of heroes of the Soviet Union were uploaded to this site. Here you can see the files of persons related to the Krasnodar Krai.
- By the way the site files krd.ru even earlier, they were distributed by CC-BY-3.0 (see here; 2013 blind version). And this has been shown more than once. Let's recall the same archive of Putin and his photos of his parents. It's not clear who took the photos, it's not known when, but we must attribute for some reason kremlin.ru and call the author Vladimir Putin (it's like "personal archive"). File:Vladimir Spiridonovich Putin.jpg, File:Maria Ivanovna Shelomova.jpg, File:Spiridon Putin.jpg (check out this nomination - Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Vladimir Putin). Roman Kubanskiy, (talk) 09:10, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
- I understand that you have some basis for assumptions but I still believe it is more likely that krd.ru just released photos without thorough review of their status (sometimes it happens, even with kremlin.ru or ria.ru and we individually delete such files despite being published on a cc-by website). People being related to Krasnodar just explains that they are posted on the website, but it is highly possible that they had no review of the original authorship/date of publication, otherwise they would post author's details somewhere around the photo. If the authors are unknown, it is another way of thinking about being in public domain due to age. But for Russian PD we need to be sure that photos were published (not made) 70+ years before and still we have no such evidence. rubin16 (talk) 08:13, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- The grainy photos that are obviously scanned from books and newspapers should not be kept on Commons since the CC licence is for when the claimant is the owner and first publisher, not a republisher of a work.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 19:08, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

- Delete. Most of these images are unlikely to be usable for educational content. Notes on specific images follow:
- File:Shoko-asahara courtroom sketch AI.png was in use across a number of wikis on articles about Shoko Asahara and should not be, as it is not a real image of that person. I've removed it from the Wikidata entry; hopefully that should propagate to the articles which used it.
- File:Jk rowling sketch AI.png and File:JK Rowling AI art.png present obvious personality rights issues, and are redundant to numerous actual photos of the author.
- File:Cow-vigilantism india AI.png and File:Cow vigilantism-india-man beating a man on the ground cows in background-602184 AI generated.png appear to depict acts of ethnic/religious violence; as such, they pose a substantial risk of being used in political misinformation.
- File:Tallriksmodellen-orig-text-675x428-1.webp doesn't look AI-generated, but is unused and has a dubious license (PD-textlogo on a non-logo image), so it should be deleted anyway.
- Omphalographer (talk) 00:11, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
- Keep File:Jk rowling sketch AI.png and File:JK Rowling AI art.png. Someone making an inoffensive drawing of you does not violate your personality rights
- KeepFile:Cow-vigilantism india AI.png and File:Cow vigilantism-india-man beating a man on the ground cows in background-602184 AI generated.png. There is no rule against "violent" AI images--Trade (talk) 10:28, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
- Keep indiscriminate nomination. Most of these are easily in scope. They illustrate video game genres, social issues, tropes in LGBT manga and anime, etc. or are just unremarkable images of things like anime women in hijabs or JK Rowling. a few are out of scope or problematic but that’s an overwhelming minority. I think this should be closed as a bad mass nomination and the nominator can re-nominate ones they can actually think of a legitimate specific reason to delete. Dronebogus (talk) 18:16, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
- Keep The nominator has not provided specific rationale(s) for deletion. All indiscriminately listed images glanced over seem fine and various seem useful. File:Farm sim AI.jpg and File:Jk rowling sketch AI.png are good examples of an images to keep, regarding the latter drawings/artworks showing specific well-known people are not prohibited. However, some of these images are low-quality because they include AI misgeneration (without being educational in regards to AI misgeneration or an early stage of AI art). --Prototyperspective (talk) 18:24, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

- Cordialement CabinetCEGN (talk) 14:23, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- Bonjour,
- Cordialement. 6PO (talk) 19:07, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

- Comment Nice photo, though a bit unfocused at full size. Could be used to portray an outdoor hot tub in the mountains, a portrait of 5 women, etc. I'd keep it, edit the description and tweak the categories, but I won't argue that it's an image of really excellent technical quality. Judgment call. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:01, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

Releasing free works under licenses that permit commercial use enables new applications by individuals and small businesses that would have been impossible before, producing value for everyone. Fair use imposes too many restrictions. The GFDL is accepted, but impractical.
