@A1Cafel One way or another, a supplier of materials for most government websites in Russia. And a precedent may be created that the Kremlin website may at some point refuse to distribute content freely, revoking its 15-year-old will. So this is a special precedent for any free sites.   • I have to concede that this is policy. A thread I started, Commons talk:Project scope/Archive 2#Advertising or self-promotion, which was a followup to others including Commons talk:What Commons is not#dvertising, did not lead to an agreed-upon, consistent standard about the scope of useful logos. So sure, delete anything that's not used on Wikipedia, and I'll stop wasting my time on this, though I oppose this obsession with throwing the baby out with the bathwater based on the perceived motivations of the contributor, rather than the plausible potential usefulness of the logo.   •  Keep all as none of them depict anything that would have individual economic significance. None of the texts are copyrightable (short fact without creativity for the first one, a quote from uk:Олександр Олесь who died in 1944 and is in public domain for the second one). Both pictures are not copyrighted: for the first one uk:Щербак Олександр Михайлович (партизан) died in 1942 and the photo was clearly created sometime in the 1930s, and because it's a passport photo is not copyrightable because as a simple photographic work, for the second one uk:Олександр Олесь died in 1944 and the photo in question was first published in 1908. The economic significance is coming from creating a 3D-plaque, but when photographed as 2D it is a mere reproduction of public domain photos with public domain texts, and so none of economically significant contributions of the engraver can be seen — NickK (talk) 13:11, 21 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It is a long practice on Commons that a 2D reproduction of a copyrighted work is not free. I refuse to beleive that an intricate 3d carving from 1995 has expired copyright. @QazyQazyQazaqstan: How is the intricacy of this carving visible here? Engraving of an existing photo on granite is not really complex, for example, here is a Kharkiv company which does exactly this, and its low cost and high availability implies it is not intricate. On the page about plaques in Kharkiv, this plaque File:Вул. Володимирська, 45.jpg does not have an author, while another one, clearly intricate, does. Even if the carving is 3D, the 3D aspect is not visible on this 2D photo of the plaque, so the only economically significant part here is photo where 1940s+71=less than 2023 — NickK (talk) 21:48, 25 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

That user added this to article of Santo Stefano lizard, but this species is described in 1926 and this art is much older than description. Considering all of this user's other uploads are copyvio, (see Commons:Deletion_requests/Files_uploaded_by_Kyruem001) this is just an image for vandalism and is not of any educational use. Several photographs from the Schommer Koch collection were uploaded to Commons. They can be found in this category and they are the ones that follow:

Although the users who uploaded them noted that the license is CC BY-SA 4.0, the actual one, as stated on the very repository whence the pictures were taken, is CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. Photo Araba considera las fotografías de Schommer "meras fotografías". El problema es que la licencia que tienen las imágenes (creo que no todas) es CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. Español: Las licencias CC pertenecen al derecho de autor, entonces si el derecho se ha acabado, la licenca ya no se aplica, ¿verdad? Estoy de acuerdo en que es buena idea hablar con el Archivo de Álava, pero creo que no sería pertinente a este caso. (Nótese que aún queda la cuestión del derecho de autor en los Estados Unidos. Quizá se ha acabado también pero no he revisado esto.)
English: CC licenses pertain to copyright, so if copyright has expired then the license no longer applies, right? I agree that it's a good idea to speak with the Álava Archives, but I think it wouldn't be relevant to this case. (Note that there still remains the question of the copyright in the United States. Perhaps it has also expired but I haven't checked this.)

Reasons: Copyright violation. According to their descriptions, these works are taken from a book published in 2004. They are still subject to copyright. The author of the work, Noparat Liwisit, is still alive. He just had an art exhibition in 2017, according to this website. Even if he died in that very year, it's still not over 50 years, a period of copyright under the Thai law. Moreover, nothing else indicates that these works have been released under any free licence as indicated by the uploader. For these reasons, the files above should all be deleted.

@Zorion: , what are the sources for this map? It gives very precise precentage of English native speakers. Which censuses (of which years) have been used? I think it's crucial to provide theses informations, since the map is widely used. Otherwise there is a risk of spreading incorrect, outdated or false informations. There are thousand maps on commons "without any indication, label, caption or anything". you seem obsessed with deleting this image which at first glance, even if it has no source, seems reliable.
