Daffy is still under copyright. See Warner Bros. cartoons containing characters under copyright protection. Should be undeleted in 2033. SDudley (talk) 02:01, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

- Sir, The Cartoon is Listed in the Public Domain. While we see that The Character is still under WB Property, the Propaganda film of the Golden Age Is not, Due to the owners at the time, AAP, Not Renewing their Copyright. This puts the Short at the Public Domain for Free Use. Monkeisquad (talk) 04:14, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- Yes the short is in the public domain due to a lack of renewal. However, the short contains a copyrighted character (please see my original link to a past mass deletion). Using the same rulings as we apply to elsewhere on the commons we can't host this short. If Mickey Mouse as depicted in The Mad Doctor, a public domain short, can't be hosted yet (until Mickey's initial copyright expires in 2024) then we can't host this one either. It can be undeleted when Daffy Duck is in the public domain. Also see this deletion request relating to past times materials related to this short have been uploaded. The file is a from a YouTube video where it counts with a CC license, but I believe it might be from the official parliamentary video. The nomination is encouraged by some deletion requests of three of my own uploads, and there are very few other similar files on commons and one of them is this one. So in order not to encourage further wrong uploads I suggest to delete this one as well. Paradise Chronicle (talk) 12:45, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- I'm the uploader, and admit, I'm not up on the details of Turkish parliamentary videos. It was uploaded by Halkların Demokratik Partisi – HDP - YouTube, the official YouTube channel of the Peoples' Democratic Party (Turkey), which was the third largest in the Turkish parliament some years ago according to our article about it. It is an established channel, around for 10 years, 196000+ subscribers,‧ 4000+ videos. Being an established channel of a major political party doesn't guarantee they know what they are doing by licensing this video, but it does imply it, so I would be against deleting it "just in case". If you can show real evidence that they don't actually own the video, then I would support removal, but not just COM:PCP. --GRuban (talk) 13:06, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @GRuban, thanks for the reply. I found Article 32 of the Turkish copyright lawː
- The reproduction, public recitation or broadcasting by radio and distribution by any other means, of speeches and addresses made in the Grand National Assembly and at other official assemblies and congresses, in courts of law or at public meetings, is permitted for the purpose of giving news and information.
- Where the nature of the event or of the situation does not so require, the names of the speakers do not need to be cited.
- The right to reproduce or distribute speeches and addresses for purposes other than those mentioned in the first paragraph belongs to the author.
- Where the nature of the event or of the situation does not so require, the names of the speakers do not need to be cited.
- The reproduction, public recitation or broadcasting by radio and distribution by any other means, of speeches and addresses made in the Grand National Assembly and at other official assemblies and congresses, in courts of law or at public meetings, is permitted for the purpose of giving news and information.
- It is from this link.
- What do you take from this? Paradise Chronicle (talk) 01:24, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- That's not quite what I meant by details of Turkish parliamentary videos; sure, if the HDP didn't take the video, the HDP can't license it for reuse. The question is, is this an official parliamentary video, or did the HDP take it? In the United States, where I'm from, there is a semi-official but non-governmental news channel called C-SPAN, that records most Congressional events on video. However, the individual Senators, Representatives, and major political parties, also have many people working for them who know how to hold a video camera. Since the HDP is a major political party, I'm guessing some of them know how to hold a video camera as well. If I wasn't sure whether a specific video on a US politician's or political party's YouTube channel was actually their work, then I would go to the C_SPAN web site and search for it, then I could give the link to prove it. Here, for example, is a US congressional hearing on copyright law from 2022: https://www.c-span.org/video/?522654-1/hearing-copyright-law-online-piracy (It also has the C-SPAN logo prominently in most frames, so that part would be obvious, but just finding it there even without the logo would be enough.) What is the equivalent for the Turkish parliament? Is there a website for the official parliamentary video that you can find this specific budget speech video on? --GRuban (talk) 13:03, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- You are right, we have no evidence that it is not of the HDP as it was published under a CC license and has no Turkish parliament seal. It's all an assumption that they are copyrighted by the one who nominated my files for deletion. But I don't understand why other prominent parliamentarians like Recep Tayyip Erdogan (I haven't gone though all years, but some) and Binali Yildirim of the AKP or Devlet Bahceli of the MHP or Meral Aksener of IYI don't have files from their parliamentary speeches on commons. I believe now all files of parliamentary speeches are nominated for deletion (some uploads from myself, others of other editors), and depending on how these end, I'll likely upload others as well, but if they get deleted of course not.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 21:42, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

- Only after 14 years do you notice these photos? If there really was copyright infringement, don't you think anyone would have noticed? Continue deleting photographs that are of no interest to anyone. Do what you think is right. I stopped uploading photographs to Commons years ago, as they are then deleted.--Croberto68 (talk) 15:48, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- It's not at all surprising the images have been on here for 14 years when Italian users don't police themselves when it comes to copyright violations and then bullies anyone else who's does. Anyway, this is pretty simple. Just don't upload images that violate copyright. Otherwise you should be fine. this isn't a file sharing network where people can indiscriminately upload whatever they want regardless of the law though. So it probably isn't for you if you can't handle a couple of your uploads being deleted as COPYVIO once in a while. --Adamant1 (talk) 16:04, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

- I'm aware, but the agreement doesn't seem to be valid for reasons I don't really feel getting into into. Except to say either they don't have anything to do with copyright to begin with, which in that case means the images should still be deleted as copyright violations. Or the church only owns the copyright for two years and then it reverts back to the architect, which again would mean the images should be deleted since this was built in 1982. Or the church can't and doesn't own the copyright in the first place, which again, means the images should be deleted. - What exactly is there to contest? The law and guideline already say that the copyright reverts back to architect after two years and their clearly aren't who WLMI got the permission from. I'm not the one who disagrees with the law or guideline either. You are. So be my guest and contest them if you think they aren't valid, but it's not my job to start a discussion about if I can follow the guideline you law just because you don't think either one is valid. --Adamant1 (talk) 19:17, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

- It does look like it might be the scan in the UW collection, but that appears to be a different print of the same image (if you adjust the contrast in the Congressional Bioguide version you can see the suit appears to have the same stripe pattern). UW doesn't name the source or photographer, but does date it to c. 1985 when Evans was a U.S. senator. - Keep It appears to be his official USGov portrait. It matches the style of others using the license from that time period, this is before they switched to color and having the flag behind and to the left. 1986 photographs by now dead photographer. No indication that the uploader is the copyright owner. --BadzilBot (talk) 20:27, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- That was when I first started Uploading. The original negatives were donated to the Sister's of St. Joseph Archives. Do I have to get permission from them? They are historically important to them and London history so how does one upload such photos after the photographer has passed? At the time of upload I owned the negatives but with instruction and clarification from someone who was assisting me at the beginning I now know the difference between the copyright owner and the negative owner buthow can historical images get on her under this situation??? ̴̴ Photo Archives (talk) 17:02, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Photo Archives: who, exactly, issued the CC license that you stated when uploading these photos?
- We don't post copyright violations just because they are historically important. Someone is the heir to the intellectual property rights, and that is the only person who can offer a license. Otherwise, we have to delete them and then undelete when they enter the public domain, presumably 70 years after the photographer's death (and long after my own). - Jmabel ! talk 18:28, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. I put the most recent CC the 4.0 one. What should I have put on the collection? I stated that the photographer was deceased, I stated his name and the provenance so I see your point about the 75 years but it was an estate sale and Attic books in London had no record of the owner other than his name? I tried to find more info on Spirrizzi but found none. What do I do if this comes up again? Just forget about dissimination of information and keep in my archives, Thanks. ̴̴ Photo Archives (talk) 18:34, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

According to article 27 of the Copyright Act (en/de/fr/it), works installed at or on publicly accessible places or ground may be pictured, and such pictures may be offered for sale, sold, transmitted, or otherwise published. The image must not be three-dimensional and it must not be possible to use the picture for the same purpose as the original.
The works must be permanently installed, but for the purposes of the law, "permanent" means a fixed installation which may be temporary -- time limited -- but not "accidental", e.g. due to transport of the work. For more information, see COM:CRT/Switzerland#Freedom of panorama.
