Images by "Staff of rep"[edit]

These files are marked {{PD-USGov}}. Staff of US representatives are likely not employees of the US government and therefore these pictures are not in the public domain. --BadzilBot (talk) 15:27, 22 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • Keep. False premise. Congressional staff are governmental employees. Toohool (talk) 16:22, 22 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
    • @Toohool: I think that's actually not true. Members of Congress (and committees, and some other entities) are given budgets to hire staff, but I think they are technically employees of the individual member of Congress. Could someone cite something clear on this?
@Jmabel: Do you have a cite for that? You may be thinking of the fact that Congressmembers get their own budget and a lot of independence in how they hire, manage their staffs, and set salaries. But the Congressmembers are federal employees, deploying federal money to hire people to work under their direction to carry out their official duties. There's little room under common law employment principles to doubt that the staff are federal employees. Toohool (talk) 17:21, 22 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • en:Congressional staff begins "Congressional staff are employees of the United States Congress or individual members of Congress," which strongly suggests both cases exist. Does anyone have something definitive? - Jmabel ! talk 23:06, 22 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
    •  Comment if these prove not to be the work of federal employees, it seems we should make at least a reasonable effort to get licenses for these images. - Jmabel ! talk 16:25, 22 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
    • If they are all from AOC's office, then they are proabably work for hire, with a single source we could go to for licensing. - Jmabel ! talk 16:27, 22 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • I agree that Congressional staff are governmental employees. Some of the smaller cropped images should be deleted. --RAN (talk) 19:21, 22 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  •  Keep per Congressional staff< staffers are employees of Congress. Cryptic-waveform (talk) 20:56, 22 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  •  Keep Congressional staff are also US federal government employees [1]. From what I see these photos are sourced from official 'govenment' representative social media accounts/sites and such. If it was from a personal account, I would be more skeptical.
