Note: This template is used on a great lot of pages. In order not to put too much load on the servers, edits should be kept to a bare minimum. Please discuss proposed changes on the talk page first. Afterwards, changes can initially be done at and tested with Template:Retouched picture/sandbox. Editing a template causes all pages that use the template to be re-rendered. If the template is used often, this can put a lot of load on the servers since it fills up the job queue. Keep in mind that templates that are used on file description pages also show up on other wikis. This page is template-protected from editing to prevent vandalism. Only template editors and administrators can edit it. Get their attention by placing {{Edit protected}} at the talk page.

Used to tag alteration(s) of an image

The template automatically sets the following categories: Retouched pictures or SVG retouched pictures

The mere conversion of a raster image to its SVG version is not an alteration. To display both authors – of raster and vector – use Template:AutVec.

Placement:

• preferably with either |other versions=,
• or as subparameters of {{Image generation}},
• or outside of the {{Info box}}.

Note

Due to further development, it is now possible to define editor and/or orig as complete links - when the first character is either &, <, [ or { it is automatically used as-it-is without expansion to a wikilink. Editoff and origoff can still be used, especially when no link should occur.

orig={{U|user}} and origoff={{U|user}} makes the same output

orig={{U|user|link=n}} and origoff={{U|user|link=n}} and origoff=user makes the same output
